The DECODE project: DEveloping consensus Core Outcomes and Diagnostic criteria for otitis Externa

General Information

A consensus process (Delphi study) to develop a core outcome set for acute otitis externa in adults, with candidate outcomes derived from literature review and structured patient interviews.

The study will be delivered by INTEGRATE, the UK ENT Trainee Research Collaborative.

The steering committee will be (in alphabetical order) Caroline Anderson, Gemma Crundwell, John Hardman , Huw Jones, Maha Khan, Rishi Mandavia, Nishchay Mehta, Matthew E Smith.

The advisory group will be Simon Lloyd, James Tysome.

Candidate outcome measures will be derived from literature review of otitis externa studies and structured interviews with patients who have had otitis externa. A three round Delphi study will be used to assess stakeholder opinion of the importance of different outcomes, reaching consensus on inclusion of an outcome into the core set when pre-set criteria are reached.
