Development of public health core outcome sets for early life health and wellbeing: ActEarly Consortium

ActEarly is a UK Preventative Research Partnership funded consortium working on the early promotion of health and wellbeing in two contrasting areas with high rates of child poverty, Bradford in West Yorkshire, and the Borough of Tower Hamlets, in London. Core outcomes sets (COS) for the ActEarly project are needed to enable the measurement and evaluation of the overall impact of the approach. To establish the COS for the project, we plan to conduct a modified DELPHI study consisting of two rounds of a consensus survey administered to experts and stakeholders, followed by a consultation of community members at both study sites. The resulting COS will be used by ActEarly consortium researchers in the design and evaluation of their studies. Later, the data collected on the core outcomes will form the basis of the meta-evaluation of the project as well as inform the long-term economic modelling that has been planned as part of the program.
