Developing a core outcome set for studies evaluating wellbeing in healthcare professionals: an international Delphi consensus study

Wellbeing is a holistic concept that includes mental and physical health, stress management, and job-related aspects. Healthcare professionals (HCPs) face higher rates of burnout and distress, impacting both personal health and patient care. Addressing wellbeing is critical due to increasing pressures on healthcare systems. An internationally accepted core outcome set (COS) is necessary to standardize outcome reporting across studies on wellbeing interventions, ensuring comparability and consistency of findings. This study aims to develop a COS for all HCPs through literature research, an international Delphi survey, and consensus meetings, and propose measurement tools for the selected outcomes.
Rationale for this international COS: By creating a COS with international participation, this study will ensure the outcomes are relevant and generalizable across all geographic and economic contexts. This global approach will help address the unique wellbeing challenges faced by HCPs in diverse settings, making the COS more comprehensive and widely applicable, which is crucial for enhancing HCP wellbeing and improving patient care worldwide.
