Bronchiectasis (BE) is a heterogeneous inflammatory chronic disease of the airway caused by repeated suppurative infection caused by various etiologies, which leads to abnormal and permanent dilation of the bronchi and bronchioles. It is manifested as chronic cough and expectoration, which can be repeatedly infected and often accompanied by hemoptysis. Clinically, it includes two key stages of the disease: stable stage and acute exacerbation stage. In traditional Chinese medicine, it belongs to the categories of "cough", "lung carbuncle" and "hemoptysis". Now it has become the third most common chronic airway disease in the world after chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma, which seriously affects the quality of life of patients. Conventional western medicine mostly uses anti-infection, anti-inflammatory and airway clearance techniques, but the long-term application of antibiotics and glucocorticoids caused drug resistance leads to a poor prognosis of the disease. TCM intervention in BE can improve the high secretion of airway mucus, delay the decline of lung function, and improve the quality of life. However, the outcome selection of existing TCM clinical trials is messy, the results of similar studies are heterogeneous, and there is a general risk of selective reporting bias. Therefore, it is very necessary and urgent to establish a Core outcome set (COS) on TCM for bronchiectasis.I will take the existing overarching bronchiectasis COS as default core outcomes(https://doi.org/10.1016/j.heliyon.2024.e34101)
